Cameras
Experience Designer includes two types of camera objects, each serving a different purpose.
Observation cameras
Observation (monitoring) cameras represent physical cameras placed in the scene for documentation or layout reference. They are purely positional elements โ they do not affect analysis calculations.
Adding an observation camera
- Click Add Camera in the toolbar or scene panel.
- Choose a model from the camera library or configure a custom camera.
- Position it in the scene.
Camera properties
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Model | Camera model from the library |
| Position (X, Y, Z) | World-space position |
| Rotation (Pitch, Yaw, Roll) | Orientation in degrees |
| Field of view | Horizontal FOV in degrees |
| Sensor size | Sensor width and height in mm |
| Focal length | Lens focal length in mm |
Calibration cameras
Calibration cameras are used with the auto-calibration workflow. They generate test patterns that are projected onto the scene, and they output warp meshes and blend maps compatible with VIOSO calibration software.
Adding a calibration camera
- Click Add Calibration Camera in the toolbar or scene panel.
- Align it to cover the projection surface(s) you want to calibrate.
Test pattern generation
Once a calibration camera is placed, click Generate Test Patterns in the properties panel. The system produces structured light patterns for each projector in the camera's field of view.
Warp mesh export
After calibration data is collected, click Export Warp Mesh to download the warp and blend data in VIOSO-compatible format.
Tip: For most planning purposes, only observation cameras are needed. Calibration cameras are used in the final delivery phase to prepare for on-site auto-calibration.
